The companion piece to the sixth episode of the Totally Buzzed UK Podcast Episode 6 “Geordie Action Man”

Jon J Squires and Laura preside over the sixth episode of the Totally Buzzed UK Podcast. The podcast drops every Monday on all-good podcasting platforms and discusses the weird, wonderful, and down-right unbelievable stories that are floating around the web.

The Stories Featured On Episode Six:

“Nerf: Legends Is a Sci-Fi Shooter Fully Loaded With the Classic Dart Guns”

This story, which was an exclusive by popular video game news site IGN, details how a sci-fi FPS game based on the range on Hasbro’s Nerf Blasters is set to be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC in October. Nerf: Legends is described as being a tamer version of games such as Halo and Call of Duty, so Squiggy and Laura discuss whether they’d be up for playing it. The duo discusses how the idea could work as well as other toys they’d like to see utilized in games. During this segment,  Squiggy reveals his love for Action Man as he lists numerous versions of the figure that he owned back in the day; while Laura just dreams of a horror game centered around Furby.

Squiggy also shares he’s not surprised to see a toy franchise inspiring a video game series and reminiscences about how a Barbie-themed horse riding game got good reviews.

“Man’s handwriting was so bad Eastbourne bank staff didn’t know he was trying to rob them”

This story, which was reported by the Eastbourne Herald,  explains how a man’s attempt to rob a bank went embarrassingly wrong due to his handwriting. The man tried to share a note with a bank teller ordering them to hand over some money, but the aforementioned teller couldn’t decipher the note. Squiggy and Laura talk about their own handwriting, how embarrassed they’d feel at their handwriting not being legible in such an intense situation, and how they’d react in this situation. Laura points out how the case reminds of her a note which was ignored during the famous heist committed by mystery man D.B Cooper, which you can learn more about here:

“Man balances field hockey stick on one finger for 3 hours, 35 minutes”

This story, which was covered by UPI.com, shares how Raj Gopal Bhoi “unofficially” broke the Guinness World Record for balancing a field hockey stick. Bhoi balanced a field hockey stick on one finger for 3 hours 35 minutes, which would be enough to break the previous record of 2 hours, 22 minutes, and 22 seconds set by Himanshu Gupta in 2017 if it ends up getting verified. Squiggy can’t believe how strong Bhoi’s finger would have to be in order to balance a stick for that long and tries to work out if he could set a similar record.
