The Stories Featured On Episode Thirty of The Totally Buzzed UK Podcast:

Crypto farm raided by Spanish authorities

Story one saw Squiggy in his element as it came from videocardz.com and was a news article involving a lot of expensive technology. The story shared how in Spain, authorities had allegedly raided a building expecting a marijuana plantation, only to discover a crypto mining farm.

Laura explained why she found this story so amusingly weird, while Squiggy despaired over the network of tangled wires that were pictured in the article.

New York City mayor can hire brother, but only for $1, ethics board says

The second story of the podcast was featured on Reuters.com and was about a dilemma facing New York City mayor Eric Adams. The article explained how the mayor wanted to hire his brother as a deputy police commissioner, a role that had a salary of $240,000-a-year. However, the ethics board had decreed that while Adams could hire his sibling, his wage couldn’t be above $1-a-year.

Laura and Squiggy discuss what job they’d be willing to do for $1-a-year, how they’d break the news to a family member if they could only get them a job worth peanuts, and what’s the point of a job on such a low wage.

US zookeepers cheer as ‘exemplary’ gay penguins hatch a family

The final story of episode 30 saw Squiggy and Laura gush about penguins as two male penguins have tended to an egg, enabling it to hatch, according to TheNewDaily.com.

Squiggy referenced several penguins movies that he loves, before focusing on the fact these penguins have helped welcome new life into the world.

Laura points out that the article mentioned a dummy egg was used to help train the penguins into being good surrogate parents and how it reminds her of several storylines in American teen sitcoms.

This triggers Squiggy into remembering the same thing. While the duo both believe the flour episode is related to something like Saved By The Bell and That’s So Raven, popular US sitcom Fraiser actually did an episode on flour being used as a dummy baby.
