The companion piece to the nineteenth episode of the Totally Buzzed UK Podcast Episode 19 “Holy Snapping Turtle Teeth”

Jon J Squires and Laura preside over the nineteenth episode of the Totally Buzzed UK Podcast. The podcast drops every Monday on all-good podcasting platforms and discusses the weird, wonderful, and down-right unbelievable stories that are floating around the web.

The Stories Featured On Episode Nineteen of The Totally Buzzed UK Podcast:

Rare Antarctic penguin accidentally travels 3,000km to New Zealand

Episode Nineteen kicked off with a story from the BBC about a lost penguin. The story focused around a penguin that had gone 1864 miles off course as instead of being in its natural habitat of Antarctica, it had turned up on a beach in New Zealand.

Laura and Squires discussed how they’d react to finding a penguin in their local area, how the New Zealanders must have reacted, and criticised what the penguin had been nicknamed. After all, apparently, locals had named it Pingu, which doesn’t seem that creative on an option.

Squires and Laura also revealed their mutual love of penguins, with the latter referencing hit movies ‘March of The Penguins’ and ‘Happy Feet’.

New Zealand Couple Hopes Their Massive Potato, Named Doug, Will Be Certified as the World’s Largest

The second story on this episode of the podcast is about a potato and was covered by insideedition.com. The potato is believed, waiting confirmation, to be the world’s largest and had been discovered by a New Zealand couple.

Laura and Squiggy discussed the massive potato, its name, and the weird TV news report that was featured in the article. The news report contained an interview with the couple and the husband casually threw out the phrase ‘holy snapping turtle teeth’, much to Laura and Squiggy’s surprise. The duo discussed that unique phrase and just the whole bizarre family set-up this potato had found itself in.

Cold case: Man accused of DWI drives truck into icy Wisconsin lake

The final story of episode 19 was suggested by listener Michael Kilby and was reported on by fox23.com. The story was about how the local sheriff department in Wisconsin had issued a notice that the lakes in the area were clearly not icy enough to cross in a vehicle yet after a truck along with the owner’s ice fishing house had plunged into a lake.

Laura and Squiggy discussed how the lake in question looked far from icy, with both believing it looked like a hot swamp straight out of Scooby-Doo.

Laura then shared that due to the incident taking place in Wisconsin, it reminded her of the opening credits to ‘That 70 Show’ as that features a shout-out to the US State.

Laura then reminisced about an episode of ‘That 70s Show’ that featured an icy lake as well as a fishing house as it featured one of the long-running sitcom’s best jokes.

Squiggy shared a story about his friend crashing in a farmer’s field and this led to the pair referencing Cartoon Network classic ‘Cow and Chicken’.

TikTok Spotlight:

In the nineteenth edition of this segment on the podcast, TikTok Spotlight, Laura highlights a TikTok that she enjoys and believes others would enjoy.

She opted to select the TikTok below, which was uploaded by the user: grealishious

@grealishious Same vibe… #jackgrealish #jackgrealishthegoat #jackgrealishedit #ExpectingGen1 #boohoomanxjackgrealish #staynow ♬ original sound – Becks

The TikTok smartly shows how Manchester City footballer Jack Grealish fits in E17’s music video for ‘Stay Another Day’. However, it does lead Laura to break the news that ‘Stay Another Day’ is actually a sad song when you realise what it’s about, this news does dent Squiggy’s Christmas spirit slightly. Yet Squiggy quickly recovers as Laura shows him the very festive Sports Direct advert that Grealish has been plucked from for this Tik Tok.

Squiggy also cheekily references Mrs. Grealish 69, who was a fan that went during Euro 2020 due to her choice of shirt.
