Premier League – 22/23 FPL GW5 wrap up

After cruising past Bournemouth last week, Liverpool racked up another win by defeating Newcastle United 2-1 at Anfield. In fact, Liverpool’s winning goal, which came courtesy of Fabio Carvalho, came in the 98th minute of the match – so talk about leaving it late.

Totally Buzzed’s 22/23 FPL GW5 – League Summary – Current Standings

As for Totally Buzzed’s FPL League, it got a mega shake-up once again. This was mainly due to several players in the division triple-captaining Erling Haaland and watching him rack up a grand total of 51 points after his 38-minute hat-trick against Nottingham Forest. Yet while that saw several new faces in the table’s top 10, new league leader Team Innum Peru Vekkala moved to the top of the table without even having the captain’s armband on Man City’s impressive striker. They instead opted to captain Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah. Although if they would have slapped the captain’s armband on Haaland, their lead over second-placed Team Oil Can’t Buy would be far greater than a single point.

This week’s highest scorer was Team Change Name, who racked up 95 points. They of course had Haaland, but they also benefitted from having Mohamed Salah, Joao Cancelo, and Gabriel Martinelli as all three racked up a double-digit score.

As for the bottom three, it stayed the same for another week despite Team Fox City and Team Arteta’s Tricky Reds both scoring very respectable scores.

Yet it’s only been five weeks, so there’s plenty of time for teams to surge up the table, as FPL is a marathon, not a sprint. Be sure to check out Totally Buzzed’s football podcast Football Beef that will see audio updates on our FPL League coming in the very near future.
